A drive that takes you through some pretty undulating terrain, a vast sea of lush green tea plantation, and a watch tower—that’s how you begin the 4-hour-long Chembra Peak or Heart-shaped Lake Trek. Easy hiking soon gives way to some arduous rock climbing and trees change to tall, brown grass as you ascend. It’s only after you have negotiated two huge boulders that Chembra lake comes in view. The verdant hills, cool breeze, and rolling clouds mesmerise and make the climb worthwhile. Only regret—trekking is allowed only up to the lake and not up to the Chembra peak.
+ 7
The enthralling Nilgiris surround the lush green meadows, billowing clouds wreathe the peaks, the monsoon has adorned the western ghats with its exquisite green fabric and amidst all this charm is a lake with the shape of a heart - the Chembra Lake. An arduous trek of about 3.5 hours culminates into a small little lake and a view worth remembering a lifetime.

Maravanthe located in western Karnataka is one of the beautiful place to visit. You can see the river on one side and sea on the other side. But it is not advised to go into sea
Maravanthe is the beach where you can see both sea and river separated by national highway. It had fresh water of nethrawathi on one side and the ocean on the other side. But other than this I bet you, You get to experience the most scenic drive along the beach and I bet you get to see the nature in it's best form. You will really enjoy the journey and you can also spend some time in the beach and relax and rejuvenate as well... You have to come here if you are looking for an escape from life.

I've heard that Sandakphu is a really difficult trek. But the writer describes it as though it were a piece of cake. Think I should pack my bags immediately.

Mawlynnong was indeed a #travelbreak for me as between the work hustle it was an office tour.First stop was "The Living Root Bridge".As the name says it's actually made up of Live roots.Standing isn't allowed and we have to take a quick selfie/pic.After enjoying the Nature's marvel i went towards the stairs which led to a Tree house/Sunset point crossing a beautiful village. I had an alone time at the tree house and it was home to me for sweet 15 minutes. It had a window overlooking the Bangladesh land.Next stop was "The Asia's Cleanest Village".It was indeed serene and heart warming.Highlight to me was the Beautiful Church and tree graftings done by villagers themselves. Per night homestay costs around 2-3k.It was a very relaxing time at the village.Do try the local food there.

Mawlynnong was awarded Asia's cleanest Village. One of the key attraction of Mawlynnong is living tree root bridge.Sky View is a vantage point and a popular attraction of Mawlynnong Village. This viewing tower is 85 feet high and is made of bamboo.Once you reach the top, you’ll be overwhelmed with the breath-taking views. And since the village lies on the Indo-Bangladesh border, you’ll be able to see the landscape of Bangladesh as well. Entry to place will cost you around INR 30 per person.

Majuli island, the largest river island in the world is completely isolated from the chaotic 21st century city life. This island sits slap bang in the middle of the majestic Brahmaputra river in Assam. It is damn gorgeous with a tranquil vibe. Everything is hand made and hand cooked, there is no quick fix, it is just as God had intended. The island is Predominantly inhabited by the people of missing tribe who have unique cultural lifestyle. Tribals certainly have a strict open door policy! Every one who is curious to meet them is greeted with open arms, a smile and yes, a glass of local rice beer- ‘apong’ Missing are compassionate and simple people who house in heightened bamboo huts so as to be responsible towards their mother nature and to prevent flood water from entering their homes during monsoons. If you are preparing your north east itinerary, majuli is a must go !!

This was my 4th time to umngot river. Among locals umngot river is also known as Dawki river. Yes, the crystal clear water, colourful boats , an hour of boat rides, suspension bridges, some fishing and snacking on the go... Everytime i visit Meghalaya, I somehow manage one my day for this river. From Shillong it takes around 3-4 hours to reach this place. Yes , tourism is expanding in this zone each passing day so as the fair going up

Umgnot river or famously known River Dawki is a beautiful clear water river over a wide stretch. The clear water can be viewed from the bridge across the river. To witness this beauty summer is the right time. There is boating for 30-45 mins, they drop you at the island, chill, relax and then again hop back on the boat. This river continues towards Bangladesh as well so a hi-bye can be done. This beauty has to be witnessed and enjoyed.
