Day 1
A day long trip to Kalinjar Fort, 55 Kms away from Banda in Uttar Pradesh. This is an almost 1000 year old fort built by the Chandela rulers. Though fort is in ruins...but still has a couple of old temples, Rani Mahal and embankments. Neelakanth Mandir still has beautiful carved statues. An excellent weekend getaway from Lucknow, Kanpur and Allahabad. Best time to go is either in monsoons or winters...as summer time is simply a no go. We went from Lucknow and it took us 5 hours plus drive by road via Banda.
