There's more to Rameswaram than the renowned Ramanathaswamy Temple and a bunch of other pilgrimage spots.
This time around I wanted to do something a little offbeat for my birthday. A few hours of researching online led me to discover the thriving and underrated water sports scene in Rameswaram.
Currently, the water sports and adventure activities are pretty much single-handedly organised by Quest Expeditions, the company also responsible for setting up two stunning home-stay/beach-hut properties namely Kathadi North & Kathadi South. One facing the Bay of Bengal and the other on the Gulf Of Mannar.
The former, Kathadi North, where we stayed at is nestled far away from the buzzing town area, surrounded by an endless stretch of palm trees. Oh, and the beach is just a 5-minute walk from the cottage.
Three days filled with lazing on the clean beaches, soaking up the sun, and of course a super-intense workout in the name of Kayaking and Stand-up paddling. I couldn't have asked for a more memorable birthday.
I'm so glad to have found this place - and I highly recommend one visits these secluded beaches soon as these are yet to be plagued by commercialisation.
