I was doing my bachelors some 2000 kms away from my home town, from a quite reputed college in India, So obviously it would be tough to have many friends at hometown. So it was the same with my other friends, who were in different corners of India because of the Lockdown. We were a group of 7 people 3 were from Rajasthan, me and one more from Gujarat, one from Delhi, Maharashtra, and Bihar. We often used to go on trips when we were in college and been on a trip after the end of the first wave of covid as well so now it was the time to go for another trip.

So we decided to go to India’s most visited place which is Udaipur. Obviously what would be a better place on the time of Holi.

Day 1

We were coming from different places like 4 people boarded a train from Jaipur, I was coming in a bus, Another friend was coming on another train and one more guy was coming in flight but a little later that day (bade log has their own shoukh xD) So we decided to meet at the railway station, We all reached early morning on 16th of March I guess. It was toooo hot, We couldn't bear the heat even in the early morning and rushed to AirBnb which we booked near chetak circle so that we could stay in AC. 4 out of us 6 would be working on that day, So we spent most of our time talking and attending meetings till evening. We met after quite a long time so we had a lot of things to talk about. Later in the evening, we decided to have a walk till Fateh Sagar lake, which was just a couple of kms away from our Airbnb. We got to witness quite an amazing sky and some cold breeze while we were walking around the peripheral of the amazing lake. Unfortunately, We couldn't do boating in the lake as it was almost sunset when we reached there but still it was an amazing experience because of that amazing sky, cold breeze, the famous cold coffee and bunch of friends.

Day 2

As we were working on the first day we didn't do much, we started day 2 by renting scooters to roam around the city. On the way back we were riding in between the narrow and busy streets of old Udaipur which was quite an astonishing experience. We came back to Airbnb and it was almost afternoon then, It was too hot so we decided to go to the celebrations mall which is quite famous there but it felt quite boring to us. We were out of the mall in less than half an hour. As soon as we came out we saw an old uncle selling sugarcane juice, We were quite thirsty and it was too hot so we decided to have it. It was quite an amazing decision by us, That sugarcane juice was one of the best I have ever had in my life. Right outside Chandigarh's rose garden still wins the race but it wasn’t much behind either. After that we had some amazing lunch at Bavarchi Restaurant, I am used to coming to Udaipur at least once a year so we found this place on one such family trip. So, It was my recommendation as I knew that their food is quite delicious. Everyone loved the food. Generally, I keep a list which I mostly make long before planning the trip, Like these are the go-to places, these are my go-to cafes-restaurants to go on the trip etc So we went to one of that places in the evening. We had a local friend as well who accompanied us then, It was the famous “Karni Mata Temple”. I wanted to see the beautiful sunset from there but it was Holika Dahan on that day and we had to go from those narrow streets of old Udaipur which was jam-packed full of people making Holika, as well as the crowd of the market. So we reached the base a bit late. The ropeway line was full so they told us that either climb by ourselves or stand in line for an hour. We were already late so wouldn’t think of waiting in an hour-long line but rather decided to do the trek in tight jeans xD. We were quite motivated and views were making us motivated as we climb up. We reached mandir in 20-25 minutes or so. Sorry to say but none of us were interested in the mandir, All were staring at me as I promised them to show some amazing views but it was quite dark and full of trees so I couldn’t find the spot which I saw in many vlogs. I knew that we had to keep walking ahead of the mandir and there would be a huge gate through which we can go to the boundary wall of the castle from which we can see amazing views sadly that gate was closed as it was already half an hour past sunset. I knew I am getting too much abuse from my friends as I couldn’t show the thing about which I hypes a lot. But, a local friend came to my rescue as he knew a secret way to go to that place. We left the road and there was a small trail that took us behind the door there were some stairs that took us to that boundary wall and the view and wind from that made us stunned. I still don’t have words to explain how good that view was. We were able to see the whole of Udaipur on one side and Pichola lake with “Jan Mandir” in the center. It was totally out-of-the-world feeling that we got there. We stayed there for an hour or so. I took a lot of pictures there which I am adding at the end of this paragraph. We went downstairs and got to know that mandir is already closed, yet that didn’t bother us much as we witnessed some of the most amazing views.

We went to Jagadish Temple to see the Holika Dahan and special celebration of that. It was totally unique holika dahan celebration, which we had never seen in our entire life. They had hired dancers, built big stages and had a dance show or idk how to put it before doing the rituals of holika dahan. There would be tons of people dancing on the road and around the stage and etc. It was a totally different experience in itself, We danced a bit as well and watched the holika dahan. After that we went to the famous gangor ghat and set for a while, It was quite a calming place but not during holi. It was full of people so we bounced in few minutes. We were too hungry after the long day but there was one more surprise waiting for us. Nobody had expected that whole udaiput would be closed on the night of holika dahan as well as on the day of holi. From Liquor shop to petrol Pump everything was closed. We romed in all the udaipur, We could only find 2 shops open. We set in one the food was delicious but it took almost 1.5-2 hours to get served and we ordered just a bit for taste, We still didn’t know that internation joints like dominos and MacD would be closed as well. We thought let it be we will order something from swiggy after midnight as Dominos and MacD would open again at 1 AM but sadly nothing opened that night. We just found 2 options at 2:30 AM one of which cancelled the order and we got some Arabic food and some pizzas from the second one at 3:30 in the night after that we could sleep.

Sadly I can't add a video file and only video file as define how the atmosphere was there.

Day 3

On day 3 it was holi. We slept at 4-4:30 that night so we got up at around 10 ish. Then we went to play holi at the same place where we went yesterday to see holika dahan. We couldn’t bring our scooters all the way had to leave it 1.5-2 kms away and go by foot. Again it was the same thing, People were more interested in dancing then playing holi. It was too crowded , We stayed there for couple of hours max then couldn’t handle the crowd and sun so we were back home. We came home at around 1:30-2, we decided to place order of food because udaipur show us their brutal colors again xD. Same thing happened again, We were managed to order half half food from 2 joints, which took almost 2 hours to reach. We all got rid of colors from our body till then. After that we decided to go to some local places like saheli ki badi and pichola lake etc. So we decided to go to pichola lake first, Our main motive was to go and enjoy boating during sunset but sadly we were late and couldn’t enjoy the boating, So decided to go to saheli ki badi again holi affected us, tourist places were shut as well so we couldn’t go there but we got to have some amazing kulfi just outside the main gate. So sadly at the end we decided to go at fateh sagar lake and chill. It was quite an amazing atmosphere there so we loved it. We had some cold coco which is quite famous there and back to home.

Day 4

So it was the last day of our trip, We were in the mood to chill and have good time with each other. We had only one agenda on the day that was to go to city palace. We got up quite late had some breakfast and went to pickup the passes which was arranged from a contact there. It took us alot of time because of miss communication, finally managed to get it and had some amazing time watching the palace, was able to get some really amazing photos in the lobby with pichola lake in the backdrop. Later we spent somewhere around 4 to 5 hours exploring the palace, gave attention to detail when it was needed and gave ample amount of time. One of our friend had to catch a train, he almost missed it because of the beauty of palace. Here are some amazing pics clicked inside the palace.

After than we got lucky as we were just a kilo meter away from boating time and it was almost the sunset time so we went there and got a chance to do boating. It was quite an amazing experience. We had an amazing time while taking some photos and making reels etc etc. It was 25-30 minutes long aesthetic experience. You can checkout the photos and videos down here.

So after that it was the time to go. I had to catch my bus back home at 9 in night. Everyone else was leaving on next morning. It was a trip which i will always remember as we didn't visit many places rather we had good time with the friends more that going from one place to another. We missed couple of places and all the restaurants/cafes from my list but still each of us loved what ever time we had in udaipur. It would be one of the best trip which i had with my friends.
