Nainital also called “the city of lakes” is situated in Uttarakhand. This hill station offers tourists across the country some much needed respite from the sweltering summers. The famous Naini Jheel is known to give aesthetic pleasures to people. At the outset the water of the lake appears to be calm and pleasing. The cool breeze blowing throughout the day is so soothing. You can experience the joy of boating in the lake. Apart from the serene waters of Naini Lake, the green valley is also renowned for its pleasant climate and annual snowfall.

One of the centers of attraction in this lake town is the Mall Road which connects the entrance of the place to its end. It has shops of artifices, the designer candles, eating joints, the famous Bhotia Market and ice cream parlors. You'll find tourists taking leisurely strolls, shopping, and munching on snacks, all along the Mall Road, giving it the appearance of a carnival.

The nearby areas The Kilbury Hills and The Nainital Zoo attract the tourists. At the center of this resort town, there are The Flats, where many sporting tournaments are organized. The place is a shining example of unity in diversity as the places of worship of all religions i.e. Church, Gurudwara, Mosque and Temple are adjacent to each other.

The nights here are very chilling, romantic and pleasing. With all the lights in the hills switched on, you'll feel like you're celebrating the festival of Diwali. All the vehicles moving in the adjoining hills during the night appear like tiny balls of light levitating in the stark darkness.

Although the town is chock full of tourists across the year, most people visit the place to celebrate New Year’s Eve, Summer vacations, Winter vacations and Monsoons. The green valley is also famous for its hub of schools like Sherwood, TATA Birla, St. Mary’s, Amtuls. Students from PAN India visit here to take admissions in these schools, which also increases the number of visitors.

Now coming to food, the specialities of the place is Bhutta “Corns” with green chutney (seasoning dip), momos and thukpa. We can taste natural, fresh fruits as well like kaafal, peach, apricot and plum. It is worth the visit at any time of the year.

You can visit Nainital by taxi or a bus. If coming by train, the last train stop is Kathgodam, from there you need to take a taxi, private or shared or you can take a bus. There are numerous buses at all times going from Kathgodam to Nainital, it is hardly 35 kms and the ride is breath taking. But be careful as there are lot of turns and the 35kms are in altitude. Once you reach Nainital the tiredness just fades away and you indulge yourself in aesthetic beauty of the place and pleasant weather.

If your are planning sometime soon, I wish you Bon Voyage!
