Day 1

It was a close call for Pandvas, when Duryodhana conspired to burn them alive in a house made of LAAKH (hence the name of the place LAKHAMANDAL). But Pandvas succeeded in escaping from a cave. Even now, the remains of Lakhamandal is guarded by two Dwarpalas namely MANAV and DANAV. As per locals, it is said that whenever someone dies in village, the body of the person is brought to this place. On placing the body in remains of Lakhamandal, the person gets alive for a brief moment as MANAV tries to bring the person to life and DANAV tries the other way around (This doesn't hold true in kalyuga)

So, this place has a great Mythological as well as Historical significance. Alot of sculptures can be seen here which dates back to 600AD.
One of the main attraction is a highly polished granite Shivalinga. You can see your reflection in that Shivalinga when water is put on it. Apart from this, hundreds of Shivalingas have been excavated from this site. The Architectural style of this temple is very similer to that of Kedarnath temple. As per priest of this temple, this is also called as Adi-Kedar.
So due to its historical importance,  this site is maintained by ASI.

This place is approx 60 km from Chakrata tehsil of Dehradoon in Uttrakhand.
