Imagine waking up one morning, slipping on your cozy slippers, and making your way towards the door of your room. As you open it, the delightful chirping of birds surrounds you, accompanied by a gentle, chilly breeze caressing your cheeks. Stepping outside, you find yourself in a breathtaking scene—a lush, verdant meadow adorned with charming little camps. Your gaze ascends to the sky, where colossal snow-covered mountain peaks glisten in hues of red, orange, and gold under the warm embrace of the morning sun. It feels like an enchanting dream come true. I had the incredible opportunity to live this dream in May when I stayed at 'The Meadows Resorts & Camps' in Chopta while on my trip to the Tungnath Temple.

Location and Places to explore nearby

If you ask me where this place is located, I would love state the address to be 'green meadows, heaven road, near the abode of Tungnath Ji'. However, for the benefit of all , the earthly address of this beautiful location is ' Baniyakund , near Hanuman Mandir, Ukhimath, Chopta'.

The resort is conveniently situated in close proximity to the Sari village, which serves as the starting point for the Deoriatal trek, only 12 kilometers away. Additionally, the starting point for the Tungnath Temple trek is a mere 4 kilometers from the resort.

The starting point to the Tungnath ji temple is located at about 4km from the 'The Meadows'

About the Property

The property is located on a verdant 'Bugyal' and with an unhindered view of the snow covered peaks right in front. The most remarkable aspect of my stay at this resort was the breathtaking scenery that surrounded me. I had never encountered such exquisite beauty before. The little camps and rooms were scattered on the green slopes. The majestic snow-capped peaks appeared incredibly close, almost within reach. Each sunrise and sunset painted the sky with a dazzling array of colors. I found myself captivated by the boundless splendor of nature, able to spend the entire day outdoors gazing in awe, only interrupted by the chilly wind, a gentle reminder to retreat indoors.

Rooms

There are concrete rooms as well as tents at this resort. We booked our two nights stay at one of the tents. The tents were spacious and comfortable. There were two double beds , dressing table, chairs and table inside our room. The washroom had all the amenities with a western toilet, running water and wash basin. There was a small verandah in front of our tent with centre table and chairs where one could sit and enjoy the mesmerising views of the snow clad peaks of the Himalayas. We would see the Chandrashila peak covered in snow from our tent.

On a cloudy afternoon, we arrived at the resort and settled into our tent. Soon after, we embarked on the deoriatal trek, but the relentless rain forced us to turn back within two hours. The winds picked up, accompanied by a biting cold. As we entered our tent, we noticed it swaying in the gusts, yet it was exceptionally well-built, providing us warmth and comfort. The eco-friendly accommodations were equipped with all necessary amenities. During the dark hours, when electricity was most needed, the resort had solar power available. To conserve energy, the management ensured power was cut off during the daytime when most guests were out trekking and exploring. Despite the lack of telephone network coverage, the resort offered WiFi facilities. Ample windows in the tents allowed for natural lighting to filter in.

Food

The food was delicious and was freshly made in the kitchen every time the boarders went for their meals. We were served with rice, dal, roti, vegetables and Paranthas. We had some of the best French fries and bread 'Pakodas in the evening while watching the dusk turn in night behind the snow clad peaks.

My experience at 'The Meadows' was truly exceptional. I had never felt such a profound connection with nature before. As I checked out, a sense of melancholy washed over me. The place had become a comforting home away from home, and I was reluctant to leave.
