Vizianagaram Tourism and Travel Guide

The city of Vizianagaram offers its tourists an opportunity to experience the history of Andhra through its numerous palaces and forts. The most significant place in this small city is the imposing fort that eventually formed the nucleus, which grew to become the town of Vizianagaram. Moti Mahal is the main and most prominent building in the Vizianagaram Fort and is now used as a platform for educating the poor. An ancient temple, Pydithalli Ammavaru, is situated in this town. Legend has it that one of the daughters of the Pasupati royal family was the reincarnation of the pressing deity, Pydithallamma. Close to the fort lies the Ganta Stambham, the construction of which is along the lines of London's Big Ben. Other historical buildings here include the Oudh Khana, the Perla Home, Bobibilli Home and Raj Mahal. Vizianagaram offers delicious South Indian cuisine that can be tried at local restaurants such as Hotel Blue Earth and Biryani Express.
