Itinerary
Day 1
- On arrival at Bagdogra Airport, (500Ft / 150Mts) you will be met by our local representative who will assist you to board your vehicle to Phuentsholing (165 Kms/ 05Hrs). On arrival in Phuentsholing, met by our representative, after clearing immigration formalities, check in at the Hotel. Later if time permit Visit Zangtho Pelri: Situated in city Centre, this small temple represents the heaven of Guru Rinpoche. Later in the evening explore the local market. Overnight at the hotel in Phuentsholing
Day 2
- After the breakfast, proceeding to Thimphu. The drive to Thimphu is very scenic, once we climb up from the Indian plain to Bhutan foothills through beautiful forest, towns and road side villages. Our drive will pass through Gedu, Chukha, and Chuzom before emerging ourselves into the only multi culture city in Bhutan. Check into the hotel, evening we will explore the city by walk. Overnight in Thimphu, 2300m
Day 3
- Today In the morning we will visit Handmade paper mill, School of Arts and crafts (closed on Sundays, government holidays) where students learn 13 different arts used predominantly in Bhutan. We will also visit nearby folk
- heritage museum and National Library before lunch. After lunch, drive pass by Memorial Chorten built in memory of the 3rd King. Visit Buddha viewpoint, Changangkha Lhakhang, the oldest temple in the valley, Enclosure where national animal, Takin are kept and Zilukha Nunnery. Overnight in Thimphu
Day 4
- After breakfast drive to Paro (7,483 ft.). On the way stop at Lamperi to visit RoyalBotanical Park. On arrival check in at the hotel. Afternoon visit Ta Dzong – National Museum with an excellent collection of arts, relics, religious thangkha, etc. Rinpung Dzong - Meaning "fortress of the heap of jewels". The dzong now serves as the administrative and judicial seat of Paro. Evening free for leisure. Overnight stay at Paro.
Day 5
- Have early breakfast and drive up to the base of Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest). The most famous and sacred site among all the places in Bhutan. Guru
- Padmasambhava is said to have come riding on a flying tigress to this place and meditated in a cave for 3 months, it wasn’t until Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal cameto this place and meditated that it gained the popularity that it has now. The present structure is said to be built in the 15th century but was destroyed by fire in 1998 and has been restored. The walk is about 2 hours till the top through wide pathways which was built during the restoration works. One hour into the climb there is a tea point from where you get a very
- good view of the monastery, they also serve lunch here. From there it’s about another 45 minutes climb to the 2nd view point and the highest point in the hike. Kyichu Lhakhang: Considered the oldest temple along with Jampa and Kenchosum Lhakhang in Bumthang, it dates back to the 7th century when a Tibetan King ordered 108 temples to be built in a single night to subdue a huge ogress. It was later renovated in the mid-19th century and in the late 1960's by the Grand Queen Mother. It is also considered by many to be one of the holiest places in the country. Inside the compound is an orange tree which always has oranges no matter what the season. Overnight stay at Paro.
Day 6
- After breakfast, transfer to Phuentsholing. Evening at Leisure. Overnight stay at Phuentsholing
Day 7
- Checkout from the hotel in Phuentsholing and you will be taken to Bagdogra Airport/Railway Station, fly back to Patna with ‘Escaping memories’ of Bhutan.
