Almora will be a better alternative. From there, you could travel around to Nainital, ranikhet, binsar, kausani as well.

Almora is a better option if you are planning a family trip , there are more engaging things for family in nearby Almora rather than parvati valley.

Almora. you can add binsar wildlife sanctuary to your itinerary as well

Parvati valley. Almora is just a town nothing much to explore. Go Parvati valley.
