It depends whether you want to travel ahead of rishikesh like little far ones or near by places. if near by then you can opt for mussoorie extending further, you can reach dhanaulty then chakrata and so on. of you want to opt for far off distance then badrinath can be explored.
Corbett national park, dehradun, masoorie, auli, chamba, tehri trek....
there are many places near rishikesh... religious, adventurous, peaceful...depends where you want to go...
Take a bus for Joshimath from Rishikesh, will cost about Rs.400. From Joshimath you can trek or camp at Auli or go through Dhak village. You can see alpine forests to snow clad peaks to valley of flowers from here. This place has a lot of scenic views on offer. Or you can further take a bus from there to Badrinath.
In Joshimath & Auli you can find ample options for staying.
Note: the last bus from Rishikesh to Joshimath leaves at 6am.
