Since others hv already suggested Colombo-Kandy-Nuwara Eliya, I will suggest the other side of Srilanka.... Our itinerary was 2 nights Colombo 2 nights Bentota beach and 1 night Hikkaduwa beach... u can travel by the local trains from one place to the other... so if u are a beach and seafood lover then go for it.

Exploring Sri Lanka offers a treasure trove of experiences, from pristine beaches to ancient temples and lush tea plantations. Here are some suggestions on how to make the most of your journey through this beautiful island nation: Plan Your Itinerary Wisely: Sri Lanka is relatively compact, but there's so much to see. Consider your interests and allocate time accordingly. Whether you're into history, wildlife, or simply soaking up the sun on the beach, there's something for everyone. Mix Cultural and Natural Attractions: Sri Lanka is rich in both cultural heritage and natural beauty. Don't miss iconic sites like the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, and the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy. Balance these with visits to national parks like Yala or Udawalawe for incredible wildlife encounters. Embrace Local Transportation: While renting a car is an option, consider using Sri Lanka's efficient and affordable public transportation system. Trains and buses offer scenic routes, allowing you to mingle with locals and get a taste of authentic Sri Lankan life. Explore Off the Beaten Path: While popular destinations like Colombo, Kandy, and Galle are must-visits, don't hesitate to explore lesser-known areas. Head to the hill country of Ella for stunning hikes and panoramic views, or visit the untouched beaches of the east coast for a quieter escape. Sample the Cuisine: Sri Lankan cuisine is a delightful blend of flavors influenced by its rich history and diverse cultures. Don't miss out on staples like rice and curry, string hoppers, and mouthwatering seafood dishes. Be adventurous and try local street food for an authentic culinary experience. Stay with Locals: Consider staying in homestays or guesthouses run by local families to immerse yourself in Sri Lankan hospitality and culture. Not only does this provide a more intimate experience, but it also directly supports the local economy. Respect Cultural Norms: Sri Lanka is a conservative country with strong cultural and religious values. Dress modestly when visiting religious sites, remove your shoes before entering temples, and always ask for permission before taking photographs of locals. Be Mindful of Wildlife: Sri Lanka is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including elephants, leopards, and various bird species. When embarking on wildlife safaris or nature treks, prioritize ethical and responsible tourism practices to ensure the well-being of the animals and their habitats. By following these tips and embracing the spirit of adventure, you'll uncover the best that Sri Lanka has to offer and create unforgettable memories along the way. Safe travels!
