You will get bus from busstand private and public both buses starts from there but you should travel during morning or before 6pm because last bus is around 8:30pm from Amritsar and you will reach around 12-1 and you can't find anything even hotel/hostel persons are not opening the doors i had faced this so

Go to bus stand and you can find many options available. also car pooling is also there.. pre book you stay for a hassle free staying arrangement.

You can directly go to the bus stand for this. And like Jagrut said, do not reach dharamsala in the night. Try to reach there by noon or early evening
