October is the good time to visit Himalayas states as it's off monsoon... you could opt for Kasol- Kheerganga-malana, Chandratal lake is one of the beautiful options but it starts getting little colder in October, Kareri lae trek - it's still a cleaner trek and camping Destination, Narkanda or Mashobra nearby Shimla are also good options if you are not looking for sites with an extreme treks...
