Ditch Baga, Anjuna, Candolim or Vagator beachin North Goa as they are over hyped and overcrowded. It feels so overwhelming and tiring to be there so, people are moving towards South Goa. But what if I tell you that in North Goa there is a hidden beach which feels like South Goa?

Morjim

Morjim beach is divided into two parts. One part is quite crowded and it has a nice party kind of vibe and crowd but the other side where we were staying is quite deserted, especially in the daytime you will mostly see Russians over there and very few Indians. So, that's why the beach is quite nice clean and also less crowded and serene.

It was my husband's first time in Goa so I didn't want him to go to South Goa which is very serene and aloof from the cities and also too deserted and silence prevails there 24x7. So when I was researching for not crowded North Goa beaches Morjim was the first choice.

Morjim is a small village in Goa and it is closer to the new airport of Goa which is the Manohar International Airport (GOX).

So we had booked our flight from Delhi to that airport so we would reach Morjim easily. As we reached, we booked a cab through the local cab app, Goa miles.

We reached our hotel (booked thorugh Booking.com) and had a sumptuous Goan fish thali for lunch. It was pretty hot and sunny so we did not go to the beach even though it was only 5 minutes walking distance from our hotel.

After resting and a long nap we walked down to the beach. But to our surprise it was pretty dark and there were hardly any people over there. As it was full moon night, the beach looked beautiful.

We spoke with the local people who told us that on this side of Morjim, the Olive Ridley sea turtles come and lay eggs, the fisherman and the shopkeepers switch off the lights and close their restaurants and shops at around 8:00 pm to 8:30 p.m.

The government has ordered them to switch off the lights so that its easier for the turtles to come from the sea to the shore to lay eggs without any fear. We found that really sweet that it's something the locals do and we as tourists do in order to respect animals and nature.

If you are too much into party and want to party till 12 am or beyond, then this part of Morjim is not for you. Do not choose this quiet part of Morjim because otherwise you will get bored.

In the evening to enjoy sunset you can go to the crowded part of Morjim for a more party kind of vibe which is walking distance from the other part of the Morjim beach (which is lesser crowded).

Because we are not so much into party we were absolutely happy to just roam around on the roads of morjim which are quite busy even during the nights at least till 10 p.m. after that we would just go to our hotel room and chill over there.

There are plenty of cafes and restaurants lined up even on the lesser crowded part of Morjim.

Day 2

We had found out that cab drivers in Morjim have Monopoly and they do not allow Goa miles or any other private cab services to operate there.

So it's best to hire a scooty or any two wheeler or a car if you have a bigger family to move around Goa and surrounding places of Morjim.

You can definitely visit all the other beaches like Anjuna, Vagator and Candolim and come back to Morjim and have a lead back day amazing sea food lunch dinner and enjoy in your hotel room.

For drinks and everything you can get anything at local 'thekas' and there are small cafes restaurants and eateries from where you can even buy food or get food packed.

On our way to Anjuna we found a small eatery which was newly opened. It was located at the roadside but was clean, hygienic and the food was too good.

We spent the evening at Anjuna, watched the sunset and enjoyed. But came back to Morjim for a peaceful and intimate dinner.

Day 3

If you are very conscious about wearing bikini or any kind of skin showing dresses, you can easily do that in Morjim because there are no staring or oggling. There are no eve teasing at Morjim that you may face on beaches like Baga and others.

It was my first time wearing a bikini and I felt so comfortable there. Morjim is also known as the 'Little Russia' because of the predominant Rassian tourists crowd. Morjim is also home to some of the best yoga retreats in Goa and also you'll find some nice wellness centers which cater to those who are looking for holistic wellness experience in Goa.

In the daytime just enjoy the local shacks; over there the food and everything is super reasonable and pocket friendly. The Russians and other foreign nationals love coming there and that's why the beach is clean and less crowded.

People are very helpful at Morjim. Local people will definitely tell you where to eat and what to eat and shopping is also great and the prices are much lesser than the very expensive and popular beaches like Vagator and Anjuna.

So next time if you want to go to Goa but don't want to go to south Goa and also want to avoid not go as overcrowed beaches Morjim is the one.
