Tabo Monastery is situated at the height of 10,007 feet in Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh in north India.

Often referred as Ajanta of the Himalayas - touted as the oldest monastery in India. Also known as the Ajanta of the Himalayas, the Tabo Monastery was founded in 996 AD. The place is a paradise; with the glorious heritage, traditions and culture of Buddhism preserved through the centuries.

The Dalai Lama has expressed his desire to retire to Tabo, since he maintains that the Tabo Monastery is one of the holiest.

Also, in this video there’s a short sneak peak of the Buddha statue located at Langza village which is known as the heart of Spiti Valley. This statue of Buddha seems like watching over the world.
