MUNNAR-A popular summer destination


INTRO- It is located in Kerala, a hill station in Idukki District on the Kannan Devan Hills village. Munnar means 3 rivers confluence-Mudhirapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundaly rivers.

WHY TO VISIT MUNNAR- Munnar is a very popular spot to visit in summer, as it is filled with tea plantations, winding lanes, exotic flora and fauna, picturesque views, lush forest and grasslands. Neelakurinji a beautiful flower, blooms once in 12 years. Anamudi peak, highest peak in south India is a popular trekking spot in Munnar.

HOW TO REACH- By air-Cochin is the nearest airport. By Train-The nearest railway station is Cochin. By Bus/Road-There are direct buses to Cochin and highways are well connected.

THINGS TO DO- TO SEE- Attukkal waterfalls, Munnar Tea Museum, Eravikulam national park, Mattupetty dam, Kundalahalli lake, Marayoor Dolmns, life of pinchurch, Lock hart gap, Top station, Pothamedu, Attukkal, Meesa pulimala and Anaimudi are places to see.

TO EAT- Kerala South Indian, Malabar, Tamil, Chinese, sea food, cuisine are popular all over Munnar. Puttu, Kamala, Karimeen, Netholi, Kallummakaya, Avial, Thoran, Kappa, Oolan, Kaalam, Moru, Kerala biryani, Malabar Biryani, Payasams, Pazham pori, Pathiri also banana chips, tapioca chips, unniappam, Bhajji, achappam are popularly served.

TO SHOP- Tea, handicrafts, artefacts, Pooja lamps, spices, soft Kerala cotton, are popularly shopped. Munnar market is a popular shopping market.

OTHER THINGS TO DO- Nightlife in Munnar is full of enjoyment exotic bars and pubs. Trekking, boating, camping are popular adventure sports done in Munnar.

Munnar remained wild and unexplored till 19th century. It was ruled by Travancore kings, then by Varma kings then by Muslims and finally by Britishers. I had visited Munnar 3 years back. A hill station filled with greenery, scenery, cool, fresh air and a very popular tourist spot summer.
