Mousuni Island Reviews

Ever wondered to run out of the regular work and go to a place that is still unexplored and experience the virgin beach... Yeah.. One of them is Mousuni Island. This is a coast line along the Bay of Bengal, about 150 km from the city of Kolkata, West Bengal. The best route to reach Mousuni island is to first take a southern side train from Sealdah station. Sealdah to Namkhana local. This train starts from 7.10am from sealdah and vice versa and is scheduled after almost every 1 and half hour. After getting down in Namkhana station, take a toto or a bus directly to Patigunia ghat or via dosh mile. Take a vessel (that is available almost after Every 45 min) to Mousuni island and then take toto to the place of stays. There are multiple places to stay all along the coast line on the beach. You may opt for camping and prefer to spend the night under a tent or van also prefer to stay in cottages. These cottages are still not much commercialised but provide the basic requirements such as AC., western style toilets, cleanliness and safety.. We chose to stay in a cottage named ' Holud Pakhi' that was AC room and it charged 1300/- per night per person with 4 meals in a day. April to June is peak season. The caretakers provide excellent quality of food with modest quantity. During evening on request authentic bar be que is prepared in the bar be que station that almost every stays have. The best thing to visit here is the peaceful atmosphere, very less crowded, virgin beaches, beautiful visit to mangrove troves, amazing sunsets and the rural spree. Cheap yet fulfilling.
