This festival is a celebration of our culture where you found today's culture with the touch of old, where you could find that flavoure of a village fair but with touch of city life so all an all this place is ideal for both who wants to get a experience of that old village fair and who wants a place with all the city life experience.
Sixty five years old this fare is already started at 26th of January and will run till 3rd of February so if you want to visit this place then go now. If you are from Kolkata then take a train from Sealdah or Dumdum to Ashoknagar Road and from there you could find a Toto or Van rickshaw to fare ground fair is only 10/- person. Though Toto will take lesser time than van but still I suggest for the van rickshaw cause there is a very few time when we get chance to experience of that old rustic village life and trust me this journey will be wonderful and a memorable one.
Here you find variety of counters from utensils to ladies garments to home decoration to ladies accessories. Not only this but also Carpet stalls to furniture like Godrej interiors, Anjali jewelers to four wheeler counter. For our hungry stomach there is counter of WOW momo , mio amore, Kolkata foodies to amul and Metro. From pithe(a Bengali sweet dish) to Jalebi and Badam(wallnut) and Mathura Cake. Not only this Phuchka, Jhal muri, Ice cream and mango to amla pickle also. Fare and rides come hand in hand so for those who loved to go in a fare and ride different kind of rides there is break dance,Nagor Dola, Giant mickymouse, boat ride for children.
This Fare is divided in three stages where in one stage will showcase theater which is in the back side of the fare, another one will showcase folk song and in the main stage will showcase every kind of cultural show like dance to singing and poetry or prize distribution. the prize distribution ceremony is so unique here organizers give Cow, Hen Or Duck like domestic animals which they will need in their daily life.
I will suggest if possible next year visit this fare on the inauguration day so you could witness a procession which start from Habra play ground and end in fare ground. This procession is very imposing where many from local schools take part and perform if you want to see this year's then you can check my video which i uploaded with this article.
at the end I would only say visit this place for once and you will want to visit there every year.
