The National Rail Museum is really a museum in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi which centers on the rail heritage of India it opened on the 1 February 1977. It is located in over 10 acres of land with both indoor and outdoor exhibits.

An evening in Rail Museum, Delhi.Indian Railways has always been a tremendous stepping stone for the success of India. It connects the entire nation and plays a very important role in the development of our country. National Rail Museum, situated in Chanakyapuri Delhi, is a tribute to this system. Set in more than 10 acres of land, this museum has over 100 Life Size exhibits and a well-maintained park and a cool indoor gallery for exhibits.On display are the various coaches of Maharajas, trolleys, special purpose vehicles, wagons, carriages, and engines.It's definitely worth a visit due to the sheer beauty of the era gone by and to understand the evolution of this very important facet of our lives - Trains.

National Rail Museum: This unique museum has a fascinating and exotic collection of over 100 real size exhibits of Indian Railways. Static and working models, signaling equipments, antique furnitures, historical photographs and related literature etc. are displayed in the museum. The line-up of old coaches includes the handsome Prince of Wales Saloon, built in 1875. Oh I loved this place! Came here after I saw this place in Ki and Ka trailer and I was like, okay I have to go here anyhow! and I made it! This is the place that gives you entire information on Indian Railways. Should you know the effort and you would stop littering in the Indian Railways! This 10 acre museum has outdoor as well as indoor exhibits featuring the Electric locomotive 4006 built in 1930, A Beyer Garratt 6594 Engine, a Patiala State Monorail System amongst endless others. The most unique and antique rail engines or locomotives can be found here. A true preservation of our world-renowned railway network, this museum displays railway artefacts along with historical pictures while offering a toy train ride and boat ride: a one-stop spot to gather all the history and pieces of information related to Indian railways.
