GuideThis trip is essentially a snow leopard spotting expedition in the extreme winters in the home ground of this elusive cat in the Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary. This tour is an incredible experience combining a road trip through Kinnaur and Spiti Valleys covered in white and a snow trek in the high altitude snow-clad desert of Spiti mountains. - Traditional homestay in Rekong Peo and Kibber
- On arrival in Shimla, get a transfer to Rekong Peo
- En route, attend a de-briefing session describing the trip while we halt for the breakfast
- Drive through Sarhan and Kalpa
- The climate here varies from sunny to heavy snowfall during winters
- On arrival in Rekong Peo, check-in to the homestay and relax
- Overnight stay at the homestay
- After refreshing tea and breakfast, leave for Kibber on a scenic drive through an incredible landscape covered in white
- Visit Nako Lake and the monastery
- Then, drive to Tabo, a small town in Lahaul and Spiti district on the banks of River Spiti.
- From here, we will head to Kaza
- After a short break in Kaza, we will head to Kibber
- Kibber will be our base for the next 4 days
- We will lodge in an ancient Spitian mud house, which is now a beautiful homestay
- Scan the countryside around the homestay till 7:30 am
- Have breakfast at the homestay and get ready for adventure
- Head out into the pastures around Kibber national park, depending on the movement of the “Grey Ghost”, the Snow Leopard
- We will change our location according to the updates shared by the spotters
- We will be carrying packed lunch and hot tea with us
- Make sure your pockets are full of chocolates and dry fruits
- Scan for the Snow Leopard at some of the selective sites and locations where the sighting is frequent, depending on the last scouting information
- Reach the homestay and unwind around a warm fire with tea.
- Indulge in some interesting discussions with the locals and the guides about their experiences with the Snow Leopard and the exotic wildlife here over a great traditional Spitian dinner
- Retire for the night
- Savour bed tea at around 6:30 am
- Hike around the trails near your base for wildlife sightings till 7:30 am.
- Have breakfast at 8:00 am and then we will explore the areas of Kibber Wildlife sanctuary which is known for maximum sightings
- We will be carrying packed lunch and hot tea with us.
- We will continue the excursion until it gets dark
- Later, head back to the base homestay
- Reach the homestay and unwind around a warm fire with tea and indulge in some interesting discussions with the locals and the guides over a great dinner
- Savour bed tea at around 6:30 am and hike around the trails near your base for wildlife sightings till 7:30 am
- Have breakfast at 8:00 am
- Get a transfer to Chicham Village and explore the areas of Kibber Wildlife sanctuary known for maximum sightings
- We will be carrying packed lunch and hot tea with us
- Make sure your pockets are full of chocolates and dry fruits
- Reach the homestay and unwind around a warm fire with tea and Indulge in some interesting discussions with the locals and the guides about their experiences with the Snow Leopard and the exotic wildlife here over a great dinner
- Relax for the night
- After breakfast, check out from the homestay
- Get a transfer to Rekong Peo
- Halt for lunch in Kaza and explore the lovely town before heading back to Rekong Peo
- On arrival in Rekong Peo, check-in to the homestay
- After a nice evening and dinner, retire for the night
- Wake up and laze around
- After breakfast, get a transfer to Shimla
- Participants will be dropped at the Shimla bus stand by 3 pm
- Services of a trip manager from the moment you book the trip

Road trips and trekking programs in the Himalayas are not necessarily would always run exactly as scheduled
Allow for unplanned long days or early camps due to weather disruptions or similar causes. Keep at least 2 days in a buffer
All participants are recommended to have travel insurance that covers trekking and wilderness travel.
Wear shoes and clothes you are comfortable in and do not forget waterproof jackets and warm clothing.
Do not litter the environment. Polythene and plastics are non-biodegradable and unhealthy for the environment and must not be littered or burned and should be carried back.
50% of the package cost has to be paid at the time of booking and the rest 50% has to be paid one month before departure.
We understand life can be unpredictable at times, and that plans can change, that’s why we are pretty flexible about cancellations. For last-minute emergencies, we offer future trip credits on a case by case basis. Please talk to us before you cancel any trip with us.

Less than 15 days before departure: no refunds
In case of unforeseen weather conditions or government restrictions, certain activities may be cancelled and in such cases, we will try our best to provide an alternate feasible activity. However, no refund will be provided for the same.
