Day 1
Polonaruwa, World Heritage Site No. 4 for us on this trip. It is the 2nd most ancient city of Srilanka after Anuradhapura and similarly contains multiple sites of archeological and religious importance for Buddhist's. The place gives Tomb raider vibes and fun to explore.
Major part of the city falls under the protected zones and tickets need to be purchased before entering the sites. The tickets can be bought online or at the designated counter.
One can see a lot of historic monuments, sculptures and statues of the Buddha. The sites are spread across and having a vehicle to visit them is advised.
