Background- Coonoor, the second largest hillstation in the Nilgiris, surrounded by tea plantations at an altitude of 1839 metres. It is essentially a small tea garden town where the weather remains pleasantly cool throughout the year.

My Visit- I visited Coonoor in June last year along with my family for a short trip. We initially took a stop over to Chennai first to see our relatives. Thereafter we booked our flight to Coimbatore, which usually takes an hour. After landing in Coimbatore, we called for our car (my uncle has property there). So, it took us 2hrs to reach our hotel from the airport. We stayed at the Gateway Hotel and had a very comfortable stay. The hotel is beautiful and the food there is delicious. I highly recommend some of you to surely stay there.

Stay- Ideal for weekend trip from Chennai, 496kms away, with both budget and luxury options.

Special attractions-  Sim's Park, Lamb's Rock. Law's Falls, Dolphin's Nose point, Katary Falls and Doddabetta Peak.

Ideal base for a number of trekking and hiking enthusiasts.

June Visit- Carry light jacket as the weather is pleasant in the daytime and cool in the evenings. Make sure to take an umbrella or a raincoat.

Hence, the ideal time to visit is from October to December.

From the hills to the hill town that is blessed with pristine views of lush green tea plantations and crisp mountain air and a rejuvenated feeling. The beauty of hills at its splendor, in Tamil Nadu, India. Have an enthralling and captivating experience of a lifetime and visit the flora and fauna at its best.
