Bangalore is one of the most famous metropolitan cities in India and has millions of people living in the city and calling it home. In this blog, we will discuss a 2 day trip from Bangalore to Chikmagalur. Bangalore in itself is one of the most beautiful cities in India and is surrounded by nature and lush greenery all over. Bangalore is surrounded by many beautiful locations that can be visited in a couple of hours of drive.

Bangaloreans have always been famous for taking these short weekend getaways of two to three days, enjoying the nature and coming back to the city just in time for work on Monday. In this article as you read on, I am going to be sharing the process of planning an itinerary and the major attractions for a 2 day trip from Bangalore to Chikmagalur.

Major attractions on the Bangalore – Chikmagalur Trip

Chennakesava Temple at Belur

Chennakesava Temple at Belur will be your first stop on this trip and this temple is located half kilometers from bus stand so it will be easy to find. The Temple is famous for its extensive stone carvings, sculptures depicting stories, artwork and a unique stone architecture to complement it all. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Timing : 9AM to 6PM

After the visit of Chennakesava temple, you will be heading towards famous Yagachi Dam which is located jjust 3kms from the temple. It's one of the important place to visit since it has a magnificent structure. The dam is also known for water activities and keep this in mind that availability of the activities depends on season and weather.

Hirekolale Lake

It is a beautiful man made late surrounded by mountains and a perfect spot for your Instagram pictures. It is located just 10 kms from town Chikmagalur. This lake has a famous view point of Mullayanagiri peak. Most the water from this lake is used for irrigation to field.

This the most popular attractions of Chikmagalur. It is situated 20kms from the center town and approx 32 kms from Baba Budangiri. It is one of the highest peak in Karnataka standing at the elevation of 1950 metres from sea level. It is one of the most famous trekking path and people from all over the India visit this. It also has a small temple at the summit which is also the reason behind the name of the peak.

Kavikal Gandi Viewpoint

It is one of the famous viewpoints in Chikmagalur. It is located 11 kms from Mullayanagir and Baba Budangiri and approx 18 kms from center of the town. The Kavikal Gandi Viewpoint is famously known as a horseshoe viewpoint thanks to its shape and elevation. It is the most famous viewpoint in the Chikmagalur region and is a must-visit for everyone visiting.

Manikyadhara Falls

The Manikyadhara Falls is one of those waterfalls that is hidden inside the dense forests and needs to explore to be found. The Manikyadhara Falls is at a height of 30 feet and is hidden deep inside the Baba Budangiri forest range. It is about 7km from the Dattatreya Peetha and about 30 km from Chikmagalur. This is yet another attraction that should not be missed. Be sure to go with a pre-booked local guide who will be able to guide you through and bring you back safely.
