Gudibande is a city in Chikkaballapur District. Gudibande Fort was built by a yogi and a local chieftain called Byre Gowda some 400 odd years ago in the 17th century. It was believed that he belonged to the Tuluva dynasty of the Vijayanagar empire. The Shiva temple is known as 'Sir Rameshwara Temple', and is believed to be established by Lord Rama.
There are around 500 stairs to trek up to the top from the base of the hill. It takes about 30 to 40 minutes to climb to the very top. Most of the trail is a gradual ascent, but at some stretches where there are steep.
The breathtaking view of the whole town, the massive Byrasagara lake and the rocky landscape interspersed with green flats from the top of the Gudibande Fort are worth the trail.
Me, my better half and my sisters family started around 7am from north Bengaluru and reached the base of the fort by 9.30am after nice breakfast at Nandi Upachar.
Restaurant is on the highway itself and serves good food.

A view of long winding stair of steps going up a hill and reaching the fort greet you at the base. At the top, Go around the temple, to get a panoramic view of Gudibande which is quite breath-taking. Do take water, sunblock and some eatables along since there is nothing on the way.

At many locations, the staircase goes from under the rocks. I wonder how this was done, the rock is perching right on top of the steps. The steps here are jagged and uneven at many locations , so take care not to slip & fall.

As you climb up, the remnants of 400 year old fort become more visible. One can move off the steps and explore the hill at some select locations, mostly wild plants and flowers exist. Not exotic enough to be called a photographers paradise but still better than being in a city I guess.A particular variety that was common all along the way during our visit was a yellow variant. These also line both sides of the steps at select locations.

Overall, very good trek for beginners. The trek has patches of lush greenery that provide a refreshing contrast to the warm tones of the rocky terrain. The sight of the shimmering lakes in the distance and the rolling hills under a vast blue sky is truly mesmerizing. At the summit, the view is nothing short of breathtaking, making the climb worthwhile. The serene atmosphere and the whispers of the wind add a tranquil charm to the experience, leaving you feeling both invigorated and at peace.
After reaching down, we had coconut water at the base of the trek. At the base they sell coconut water, soda and some small snacks like thotapuri, cucumber etc
After this we went to near by lake which was also awesome.
