How did such a plan evolve?

Anand Kumar Chouksey, a resident of Burhanpur and an educationist, had a fascination for the Taj Mahal. He has been married with his wife Manjusha Chouksey for almost 27 years. What thoughts inspired the construction of the house?

Though Taj Mahal is built in Agra on the banks of the river Tapti, yet she did not breathe her last in this place. It was the city of Burhanpur where she went for her heavenly abode. Anand Kumar Chouksey stated that he could not decipher the reason behind it.

As per him, “The Taj Mahal would have been built in Burhanpur but due to obvious reasons, it could not. Queen Mumtaz Mahal breathed her last here and her mortal was kept here for six months before going to Agra. The Badshahi Qila where she died, now lies abandoned. This inspired me, besides my love for my wife, to build the replica here.”

He also added, “Our country lacks love and humanity. Everyone is busy digging past but one should be worried to build the future. I want to love and humanity to prevail. I made my house to spread the idea of love; so that people feel the love".

The couple had visited Agra and closely watched the entire construction of the Taj Mahal before assigning the task to the engineers.

What are the interesting facts and the attractions of the house?

It took 3 whole years to finish the construction of the love mansion. Initially, the team faced multiple challenges to construct the replica of the Taj Mahal, as stated by the consulting engineer Praveen Chouksey. Lot of effort went in studying the monument before designing and constructing its exact replica. Artists from Indore and West Bengal were instrumental in designing the interiors of the house.

A 3D measurement of the iconic Taj Mahal was taken to build the house on a scape of meter to feet. "Makrana" marble from Rajasthan has been used for the flooring. The house has towers and minarets similar to that of the monument.

The dome of the house stands at a height of 29 feet. Artisans from Mumbai were summoned to make the furniture of the house. There is a huge hall inside the house with 4 bedrooms, two downstairs and two upstairs. Besides, there is a kitchen, a library and meditation room. The entire house is spread across an area of 90 square metres while the basic structure is spread across an area of 60 square metres. It is interesting to note the lighting of the house both in the exteriors and the interiors. Due to this amazing lighting design, the house shines in the dark exactly like the Taj Mahal.
