GuideKedarkantha peak is a lesser-known shrine of Lord Shiva and the locals have various mythological tales to tell. The trek starts from Sankri, a beautiful village 198km away from Dehradun. From the summit, one could easily get stunning views of Swargarohini, Kalanaag and Bandarpoonch peaks. Kedarkantha winter trek will turn you into a story-teller for all the adventure freaks. - Camp stay and homestay
- Meet at Dehradun railway station or ISBT bus stand at 6 am
- Together, we will enjoy a 198km drive (approx. 7-8 hours) to the base camp, Sankri
- Relish breakfast and lunch on the way
- We are expected to reach Sankri at around 4 pm
- Day 1 is for acclimatization
- Do nothing but relax, have fun and enjoy a nice nature trail
- The trek starts today
- After a nice sumptuous breakfast, we will trek for 4km for approx. 4-5 hours
- The trail passes through dense pine forests, maple trees, few streams and finally, opens out to beautiful meadows and the frozen Juda lake in winter
- Overnight camping in tents
- The second day of the trek
- We will trek for 4 km for approx. 3-4 hours
- Most of today’s trail is under oak trees
- You will also pass through some meadows where you can spot shepherd log huts
- You also get to see stunning views of Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini, Kalanaag and Ranglana peaks
- Overnight camping in tent
- Today, we will go for the Kedarkantha summit
- Head out on an 8 km trek that will approximately take 8 hours
- It’s a sense of achievement you feel when you reach the top and the beautiful views from the top makes all the hard work worthwhile
- Spend some time at the summit and descend back to Kedarkantha Base by noon for lunch
- Post lunch, descend to Hargaon camp
- Reach Hargaon by evening
- Overnight camping in tents
- Today’s trek is 4 km long and it would take approx. 3 hours to descend 2,500 feet
- Trek through dense pine forests to reach the base camp at Sankri
- On arrival, enjoy an overnight camp stay
- In the morning, we will take the198km drive back to Dehradun
- The journey would take about 10 hours and you will be dropped at Dehradun railway station by 6 pm
- Transport: Dehradun to Sankri and return in a non-AC car/Tempo Traveller
- Meals while on the trek (vegetarian + egg)
- All necessary entry fees and permits
- Accommodation in a guest house, homestay and camping during the trek
- Mountaineering qualified and professional trek leader, guide, cook and support staff
- First aid medical kits
- Trek equipment such as sleeping bags, liner, mattress, tent (twin/triple/quad sharing), kitchen and dining tent, toilet tent, utensils, gaiter and crampon/microspike (if required)
- Any kind of personal expenses
- Food during the transit/transfers
- Mules or porter to carry personal luggage
- Insurance
- Any kind of emergency evacuation charges
- Anything not specifically mentioned under inclusions
If you wish to offload your backpack at additional charges, the backpack cannot weigh more than 11kg.
The backpack should have waterproof cover.
Suitcases/Trolley Bags will not be allowed.
In the event of cancellation of trek/adventure activity services due to any avoidable/unavoidable reasons, we must be notified of the same in writing.
Cancellation charges will be effective from the date we receive advice in writing and cancellation charges would be as follows.
Up to 30 days before departure date: 10% deduction
Between 30 days to 15 days before departure: 50% deduction
Less than 15 days of departure: No refunds
