Recently I visited bolpur for a weekend trip and came across Shakuntala Village resort which is in Khowai shonajhuri haat in bolpur and ensures that you have a pleasant and comfortable stay.
The Shakuntala village resort is spread across 150 acres with sections dedicated to Rooms, restaurant, a huge parking lot , swimming pool, space for corporate events, weddings etc, altogether offering aesthetic village vibes with modern touch and a lush green nature cover connecting you to the purity and freshness of it.

The resort is preferred more by the young generation. As the place is not barred from drinking/smoking etc so you may see people having the same but still the sanity of the place is maintained as the groups try to spend their time in specially designed shacks behind the swimming pool.
They also have designated halls and banquet were you can conduct personal or professional events like corporate meets, weddings , parties as in like birthdays and anniversary’s too.
In case you want to step out of the Resort then you can visit the Shonajhuri haat which is always there to satisfy your shopping moods. With local vendors showcasing items with traditional/cultural values, it will be an interesting experience to explore the place. And also, enjoy the tradiotional baul songs which are being sung by local artist.
How to reach:-
CAR- The distance from Kolkata to Bolpur by car is 161.0 km via NH19 and NH114/NH 2B. It may take approximately 4-5hrs depending on the person driving the car.
TRAIN- The nearest station is Prantik and bolpur station. This station is well connected through rail route with many trains approaching from Kolkata's Howrah and Sealdah station. It is advised that advance reservations may be made while planning your trip to this place. The shonajhuri haat is close to prantik station as it is just 3kms from the station and after getting out you can take Toto(electric rickshaw) and reach the Shonajhuri haat/resort.
BUS- Both AC-volvo and non-AC Volvo Buses are available from Esplande which can be booked on Red bus and the prices may vary from RS 135 to RS 375/-.
Key pointers:-
-All the trains halts at both the station (bolpur and prantik), yet it is preferred to get down in pratik being nearer to the destination.
-The restaurants serve food as per the average daily consumption at the resort. So in case you want to enjoy the food till it's last bite, it is recommended that you should reach and order timely.
-Although the Shonajhuri haat is open all the 7 days yet you will find maximum vendors over the weekend only. So plan your shopping time accordingly.
-In case you have a craving for Hookahs, the same is available on request and can be enjoyed in the specially made shacks near the pools.
-The resort allows pets to be brought along as they want the whole family to be enjoying together.
-The rooms are quite occupied over the weekends and with so much orders happening as room service you can expect a generic delay in processing of the orders. So order well in time to avoid unnecessary delays.
