The Gili Islands are a group of 3 islands ,the largest being Gili Trawangan , situated at a a 2 hour ferry ride from Bali, famous for its water sports , scuba diving institutes & party hostels.
The Islands themselves are Beautiful , surrounded by picture perfect blue waters , sprawling marine life and some of the best sunsets we've ever witnessed. The Islands thrive on tourism alone and the locals here are some of the friendliest people we have come across on all our travels.
We stayed at the Kelapa Villas in Gili Trawangan , situated at a 5 min walk from the beach and gorgeous private pool villas amidst dense lush plantations , is what you may expect this resort to be like.
3 days seemed to be less , considering there are so many things to do on this small island , from taking scuba lessons in the azure blue waters , to ending the night with pub crawls organised almost on every night , this island is a backpackers paradise.
As most of South east Asia goes, the Spa's here are dirt cheap here and are plentiful , providing the perfect relaxation after a long day at sea.
We highly recommend spending 3-4 nights here and making day visits to the adjoining islands , with plenty of ferry options available.
Ohh , and also , there are no cars on the island , the modes of transportation are Cycling and Horses , that itself is enough reason to fall in love with this amazing tropical paradise.
