I suggest you start plan your trip with a companion whom you trust the most and with whom you can conquer great conquests. Ladakh is one such places which one must visit. Unlike other destinations in north India, Ladakh is less crowded with tourists. The place is pure adventure, calling out all the adventurers around the world to explore it. Yes, there may be some risks involved while visiting the place such as difficulty in breathing, but not to worry, as the people over there are readily available to help you in situations of this altitude.
