The only cost you have to pay if you take stay in Chopta otherwise the trek from Chopta to Tungnath is completely free and you don't have to pay a single penny for that. Last year I was there with my friends during Diwali time. The trek to Tungnath is easy but trek on snow is quite difficult, so make sure carry proper trekking shoes.
