The Reichstag's transparent dome has a long and bleak history. It first opened in 1894. It has since been bombed, burned down, and left in shambles. The Reichstag, which was located along the Berlin Wall, was even decommissioned at one point. In the late 1990s, the building was renovated and designated as the German parliament.
