I visited Kashmir a few years ago and it was absolutely breathtaking. Some of my favorite places that are worth exploring are Dal Lake, Pahalgam, and Gulmarg. Dal Lake is just so serene with its lovely houseboats - it's perfect for going on a peaceful boat ride. We spent a few relaxing days in Pahalgam too amidst the surrounding mountains, hiking during the day and chilling in the evenings. And Gulmarg is just incredible, especially if you like skiing or trekking. The views of the snow-capped mountains from there are unbelievable.

Kashmir, often referred to as "Paradise on Earth," is renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty, serene landscapes, and rich cultural heritage. Exploring Kashmir is an unforgettable experience, offering a mix of stunning valleys, majestic mountains, serene lakes, and vibrant culture. Here are some of the best places to explore in Kashmir: Srinagar: The summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar is famous for its scenic Dal Lake, charming houseboats, and Mughal gardens like Shalimar Bagh, Nishat Bagh, and Chashme Shahi. A shikara ride on Dal Lake is a must-do activity, offering views of the surrounding mountains and floating gardens. Gulmarg: Known as the "Meadow of Flowers," Gulmarg is a popular hill station renowned for its lush meadows, snow-capped peaks, and adventure activities like skiing, trekking, and golfing. The Gulmarg Gondola, one of the highest cable cars in the world, offers panoramic views of the Himalayas. Pahalgam: Situated at the confluence of the Lidder River and the Sheshnag Lake, Pahalgam is a picturesque town surrounded by pine forests and meadows. It serves as a base for treks to the stunning Aru Valley, Betaab Valley, and Chandanwari. The Lidder River offers opportunities for trout fishing and white water rafting. Sonamarg: Known as the "Meadow of Gold," Sonamarg is a charming hill station located in the Sindh Valley. It's famous for its scenic beauty, alpine meadows, and glaciers like Thajiwas Glacier. Visitors can enjoy pony rides, trekking, and camping amidst stunning Himalayan vistas. Leh-Ladakh: While not technically in Kashmir, Leh-Ladakh is often included in Kashmir itineraries due to its proximity and breathtaking landscapes. Leh, the main town in Ladakh, is known for its Buddhist monasteries, rugged terrain, and high-altitude lakes like Pangong Lake and Tso Moriri. The journey from Srinagar to Leh via the iconic Khardung La Pass is an adventure in itself. Nishat Bagh: One of the Mughal Gardens in Srinagar, Nishat Bagh is renowned for its terraced gardens, beautiful fountains, and stunning views of Dal Lake and Zabarwan Mountains. It's an ideal spot for a leisurely stroll and a picnic amidst nature. Betaab Valley: Named after the Bollywood movie "Betaab" shot here, Betaab Valley is a scenic valley near Pahalgam, surrounded by snow-capped mountains, lush meadows, and gushing streams. It's a popular filming location and offers opportunities for horse riding and photography. Dachigam National Park: Located near Srinagar, Dachigam National Park is home to the endangered Hangul deer, as well as other wildlife like Himalayan black bears, leopards, and musk deer. It's a paradise for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts. These are just a few highlights of what Kashmir has to offer. Whether you're seeking adventure, tranquility, or cultural experiences, Kashmir has something for everyone. However, it's essential to check the current situation and travel advisories before planning your trip, as the region's political climate can affect travel plans.
