Monsoon and winter is the best time.

The best time I found to visit Maharashtra is from October to March. During these months, the weather is pleasantly cool and dry, which makes it perfect for exploring the state’s diverse attractions—from historic forts and temples to bustling cities and peaceful hill stations like Lonavala, Matheran, and Mahabaleshwar. I especially enjoyed this season because it coincides with cultural festivals like the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival and the Ellora-Ajanta Festival, adding a vibrant touch to the trip. When I visited during April to June, it was quite hot in most areas, but the hill stations still offered a refreshing escape. I also experienced Maharashtra during the monsoon season (July to September)—while it rained heavily, the lush greenery, flowing waterfalls, and scenic treks in the Western Ghats made it a magical experience. That said, travel in the monsoon can be tricky due to possible delays or landslides in hilly regions.
