Near Delhi you can go to Masoorie at Utrakhand haridwar ..you can find many places in Utrakhand it's best budget travel list you can find ..

If you want it away from crowd check my latest trip posted. Also Khajjiar, Gushaini & Tosh will be nice. In case mountains aren't important check out Abhaneri, another trip posted by me. Quiet village with easy life. Another place I would recommend is Bhopal.

Dear Monika, You can go for a road less traveled concept. Lansdowne in Pauri Garhwal, is one such place you can explore.It is 270 km away from Delhi. The only concern is the budget, as it is advisable that you take the private cab to reach the destination or you can take a flight from Delhi to Dehradun, than from Dehradun to Lansdowne by a private cab. Choose according to your budget & time convenience.

Opt for Nainital, Mutkeshwar and Jim Corbett. There is direct train to Kathgodam. You can take a cab or bus to Nainital.
