Hey Praveen, You can go for a 2D/1N trip to these hill stations from Chandigarh : 1) Kasol 2) Mandi ( Parashar Lake trek - one day trek) 3) Dharamshala ( Triund trek ) 4) Shimla 5) Kasauli ( " Koi Mil Gya" was shot there ) Budget tips for travellers : 1) Stay at cheap places like zostels, hostels ( www.hostelworld.com ) and Dharamshala 2) Always take sharing vehicles that local uses in that area or take the lift 3) Don't eat at fancy restaurants. Try local cheap items 4) Don't do any unnecessary shopping 5) Always bargain for the rates Happy travelling!!!!!!

Hello You can visit Mc Leod Ganj. HRTC bus will cost you around 390 one way (ordinary) and 600 (luxury). Considering your shoestring budget, I will advise that you take the ordinary bus, round trip will be under Rs. 800. You can have roadside chai in the mountains (you will love it). Most of the places to visit in Dharamshala (McLeod Ganj) is actually free. Visit the Buddha statue, small and quaint marketplace, Bhagsunath Trek to reach Bhagsunath waterfall and Bhagsunath temple, International cricket stadium, etc. Budget hotels are cheap too, if you are planning to stay for a couple of days. Carry umbrella or rain coat with you. You never know, when the rain starts. Enjoy!
