I went Dalhousie in Jan 17, couldn't go to Khajjiar as the roads were blocked due to the heavy snowfall that happened in the region few days ago. We planned to go Bir then. We hired a taxi, at 4000 after so much negotiating, and that road trip was the best thing in that whole trip. Generally roads are good if you travel from delhi to dharamshala or any other major tourist destination because they're NHs. But the road from Dalhousie to Bir was different, bad condition roads, going up and down different mountains, beautiful outside, small villages, and in the evening we also spotted two leopard cubs which was totally a bonus in that road trip. So if you're planning to cover Dalhousie and dharamshala, first explore Dalhousie then go to dharamshala from there. The route to Bir and dharamshala from Dalhousie is almost same and I'm sure you'll remember that journey for your lifetime. Happy Travelling, Thank you.

Dalhousie has a good number of places to visit in 3 days Day1 you can head up to Khajiar, Dain Kund, jot which all around some 25–30 km from Dalhousie
Day 2 you can visit Chamba town, the district headquarters.It is a more than 1000-year-old town having some old temples to visit
Day 3 you can roam around Dalhousie town itself. or u can visit Chamera lake and can have boating experience there.

You can go Dalhousie first and complete Khajjar and local sightseeing on the first two days and travel im the evening of the first night towards Dharamshala. Then you can go Mcleodganj in the morning for Triund, Monastery and Bhagsunaag. You can stay in Mcleodganj and enjoy the food and local markets. There is kareri lake, Kangra, Bir near by which are places to visit.
