Hi Prajakta, yes, you will need permit to visit the Nathula pass which can be obtained from the Tourism Department and Police Check post. International Tourists are not allowed beyond Tsomgo Lake.
Hey Prajakta, Permission can be availed through your your tour operator as the permits are must and you also need to book a cab to visit nathula pass ... And as in the month of February, nathula gets a lot of snowfall, the permission is issue sometimes ... If your your operator gets it then you can visit , or else no ... As you might pre book you stay, the hotel guys would confirm you about permits and if you can visit or not ... Happy Travelling !!!
Hey Prajakta, If you driving in your own vehicle then you will need a permit. Otherwise you can book with the operators at Gangtok Mall road for Changu lake-Nathula pass+ Harbhajan mandir; one day package in Rs 1500-2000 per person. Submit your Id card and 2 passport photos at the shop one day before the tour date, they will arrange the permit on their own.
It would be obtained by Local tour operator or taxi driver. In Feb it's difficult as in April,2018 .I couldn't make out there because of harsh weather .
Thank you all for response, actually i didn't visited Sikkim in February this year due to some other issues but will visit soon. My plan is to drive myself...without tour guide.
