The month of August is not the perfect time to visit Gangtok as the beauty is not displayed to its full potential. However, if you do not have a choice, risking a little will add to the fun. Be prepared to experience rainfall at that time. If you are lucky, you will get a clear weather and pleasant temperature. And, make sure you book a good vehicle with an experienced driver because of the slippery road.

August is not a perfect time to visit Sikkim due to heavy rainfall. Best time to visit Sikkim is October-November and April-May.

If you are a pluviophile, then not a big issue. You can enjoy monsoon from the hotel window or taking a stroll on the mall road under umbrella. But sight-seeing, hiring a cab for travelling from one place to another may always pose a threat because of landslides and slippery roads due to incessant rainfall. Not the best time for sure, but one can go definitely.
