During travelling, be what your mind is on what’s unfolding in front of your eyes, you should keep a watch of your luggage. Try to stack them within your view. Never trust any person you don’t know to take care of your luggage. If your luggage fits where you sit, see to that some part of the luggage keeps touching your foot or legs. Always tag your luggage the way it is identifiable by you easily. Don’t change suitcase color or buy new suitcase just before travelling date. There are chances of forgetting this is your luggage.

Just keep ur Luggage safe by putting a lock in chains of ur luggage..Don't leave it alone. Have proper watch on it.

Well the best way is to surely get insured ! Pack carefully, avail baggage wrapping services, invest in a good luggage tag and lock, book non stop flights, arrive / board early etc are few extra things that you can do.
