Meghalaya is a suitable monsoon destination, it is safe during the rainy season. Aug-1: arrival, Guwahati to Umiam lake at Barapani (3hrs), near Shillong Aug-2: Shillong sightseeing Aug-3: day trip to Mawlynong village (3hrs) and Dawki border Aug-4: day trip to Mawsynram (2hrs) Aug-5: Shillong to Cherrapunjee (2hrs), local sightseeing Aug-6: Cherrapunjee to Nongriat (3hrs trek) to see Double Decker root bridge Aug-7: explore Nongriat village Aug-8: Nongriat to Cherrapunjee (3hrs trek), Cherrapunjee to Jowai (4hrs) Aug-9: Jowai sightseeing Aug-10: Jowai to Guwahati (6hrs), departure Yes, recommended to book hotels in advance.
