Hi Shreya June sees south-west monsoon pass through Sri Lanka. It only affects the south-west quarter of the country such as Colombo and Galle. The rainfall is short and sharp and passes quickly. The average daytime temperature in June is 28 Celsius. Therefore, if you want to visit Sri Lanka beyond the southwest corner then you can go to Sri Lanka in June.

So are cities like Kandy and Bentota good to go?
Hi there, June is a good month to visit Sri Lanka, however since the south-west monsoon hits that season I would avoid areas such as Bentota, Galle, Unawatuna areas. However, If you are visiting Sri Lanka, Yala is a must go - to tourist destination to spot its exotic wildlife including elephants, leopards and polar bears. During our visit last June to Yala, we stayed at Wild Coast Tented Lodge run by Resplendent Ceylon hotels as we have got good recommendations on it. This is flawlessly located between the ocean and the jungle and is also very close to the wild animals! I can assure you it’s safe though. Their accommodations are luxury tented camps called ‘Cocoons’ & ‘Urchins’ which I think is a unique concept. While at our stay, the naturalist at the hotel took us around to educate us on the exotic animals that resided in the Yala National Park. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodated to all our needs. You could check them out on: http://www.resplendentceylon.com/wildcoastlodge-yala/ Hope you found this useful!
