Yes you can do it all by yourself.. but there are chances that you divert from path.. for that you can accompany the fellow trekkers.. carry adequate water , nuts, tents, good quality sleeping bag, dry ration , also micro spikes wud be helpful, if a regular trekker ,then you can purchase gaiters to prevent your legs from snow. Also check before you go for the permissions required as the forest officers do not allow the outside to trek on there own without any local guide. all the best.

It is just 23 kms trek (both up and down). If you have good physical fitness and you can walk for 10-12kms in a go I would recommend you to complete it in a day without carrying a tent or anything. What you can do is - (1 day) Stay at Sankri and start walking in the morning at 6-7. At around 10 you will reach Juda ka Talab. Then at around 11 you will reach kedarkantha base camp. At max at 1 you will be at the summit. The descend will obviously take lesser time so by evening you will be back at Sankri. The only thing you will be carrying along is some fruits, chocolates, nuts, peanut butter sandwichs etc. I have done it like this and trust me it is very well doable. Or (2 days) You can start you trek from Sankri and skip staying at Juda ka Talab as you are going on your own. You should get to the base camp and rent a tent there itself. There are local tents available at cheap prices and camp there. Then go to the summit next day and do the complete trek down on the same day. As the trek is highly commercialised, they take 4 days to complete the trek as they have to deal with all kinds of public. But if you have experience and you are going on your own then there is no need to be spending extra 3 days there. The trails are wide and safe enough and there are no chances to get lost because of the commercialization, wide trails and marks of footsteps
