An Adhar card would work for you, but a specific permission would be needed prior to the travel if you going to visit some specific tribal areas.

No need for passport or any permission to visit Andaman.. However it is advisable to carry one identity proof so you can carry your Aadhar card.

You actually don't need type of passport for Adaman but it's better to carry a ID like Adhaar card to every place you travel to.

As per my knowledge if you carry a valid Indian passport, permit is not required. but if you don't have a passport (carrying Aadhar or any other ID proof) then you'll be asked for permit. All in all you can travel without a passport

If you are travelling anywhere in India and are an Indian citizen, your VOTER -ID or AADHAR would suffice. Nowhere do you need to carry your passport.

Carrying passport is not mandatory. But carry photographs, because they might be required for the permit.
