I'd visited Manali last year during May and it was completely packed due to the tourist season. There were not many places to visit as such. One of the famous attractions was the Hidimba Temple. The temple itself gives one a divine feeling and also the surroundings are beautiful and lively. There are rabbits and yak around and camera points. Also, there is this Manali clubhouse where you have a lot of stuff to do in your free time and especially with kids since there are play areas and all. Right close to that clubhouse, there is a ziplining spot, though it is for a short distance. Also, there is river rafting and the experience is wonderful. It is offered by private individuals as well but we used the ones set up by the government to be on the safe side. We'd visited during the tourist season and therefore, we were stuck for approx. 2 hours on our way to Rohtang due to the traffic jams since the roads are narrow. Therefore, try to leave for Rohtang as early as possible. Also, all the clothing and equipment is available on the way to Rohtang itself.
