I can understand your situation. Even I'm going to apply for a Schengen visa.
I used to face this issue during the beginning of this year but right now it's seems cool.
I'm from Kerala so my centres are Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, ahemdabad and banglore. Please contact 02267866078 to know your centre. Because i can't apply on Delhi or Kolkata, they have divided it as per the location.
A tip, search for slot availablity during Monday and Friday. I do find availability.
