How to Reach Kedarnath
Kedarnath Temple can only be reached by a trek from Gaurikund which is the last motorable road from Kedarnath. The nearest railway station to Kedarnath is in Rishikesh at a distance of 216 km while the nearest airport is in Dehradun located around 240 km away. Taxis are easily available to travel to Gaurikund, the base of Kedarnath Yatra. Gaurikund is also well connected by road to major cities in Uttarakhand and New Delhi. Some ways are:-

How to reach Kedarnath by flight
The closest airport to Gaurikund is the Jolly Grant Airport, from where you can take a taxi to Gaurikund. Gaurikund is the last road head to Kedarnath, after which the only option is to trek (or take a horse/palanquin ride) for a distance of about 14 km. However, an alternative is to skip the trek and make use of the helicopter services available at Dehradun.
Kedarnath by Helicopter
Kedarnath temple is one of the highest temples in the country. It is located near the Mandakini river in Uttarakhand and houses one out of the twelve Jyotirlingas in the country. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, it worships the Lord as Kedar Nath, meaning the master of Kedar Khand, the name by which the region was known earlier.
There is no road access available to the temple and it can only be reached through a tough, uphill 18 km long trek which starts from Gaurikund. Kedarnath is one of the holiest Hindu pilgrim sites and earlier completing a journey to the sacred temple was considered no less than an accomplishment for the religiously inclined.
However, the tough journey is now much simpler because of the daily helicopter service which plies from the helipad in Phata village in Kedarnath. Some operators also offer a helicopter service from the town of Agustmuni in Rudraprayag.
Devotees can visit Kedarnath temple and return the same day as helicopter service plies at regular intervals from Phata and Agustmuni helipads. 5-seater helicopters are operated by different tour companies.
The last helicopter back to Phata leaves at 11:10 AM and those who wish to have an overnight stay at Kedarnath can choose to take this flight the next day. Even with a same day return flight, devotees get around 1:30 hours for darshan in the temple.

Cost for a round trip from Phata-Kedarnath-Phata comes to INR 6500 per person with extra applicable taxes. One way helicopter rides can also be booked subject to seat availability. A one-way ticket costs between INR 3,000 to INR 3,500 with applicable taxes.

How to reach Kedarnath by road
Lying on the National Highway 109 which connects Rudraprayag and Kedarnath, Gaurikund is well connected to all nearby cities such as Rishikesh, Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri, Srinagar, Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Tehri etc, by cabs and buses. You can find buses in Delhi from ISBT Kashmiri Gate to Srinagar and Rishikesh. Taxi and buses can also be hired from major destinations in Uttarakhand. How to reach Kedarnath by train
The nearest railway station to Badrinath is Rishikesh which is distanced at 216 km from Kedarnath. It is well connected with frequent trains to and from major destinations in India. You will find it easy to commute from the railway station to Gaurikund through taxis or buses. Local transport in Kedarnath
From Gaurikund onwards, walking is your only option. You can, however, also opt for horse rides and palanquin (पालकी) services available in the area.

Please gather information from the local jeep drivers at Haridwar about the current status of the road ..Buses from Haridwar go via Rishikesh, Teen Dhaara, Srinagar, Augustmuni, Guotkashi and Sonprayag...heavy traffic jam occur while passing through Teen Dhaara due to construction of road....one suggestion..keep plenty of eatables otherwise if stuck in jam you might feel helpless just like me an year ago....
