There are only few places where you can stay when you visit Agumbe.
All places are regular lodges/home-stays. Whereas there is this one place which i strongly recommend you to stay at.
It is called Dodd-Mane (Kannada) (English: A Big House). It is a home with a history of over 130 years.
Head of this house is called Kasthuri akka (reminds you of your ajji :))
Specialty of this place is that they do not ask you for any fixed amount of money. You can pay how much ever is feasible for you. They also provide you free food (Malnad style). Yummy is an understatement. No Tea/Coffee is provided. But you are treated with Kashaya (made of 29 special ingredients). Yummy again! You can stay here for how much ever days you want to. you can stay in Hotel 'Mallya Residency'. Mallya Residency is good and comfi and just opposite to the Agumbe Bus stand but it's bit costlier compared to the other guest houses around Agumbe. If you are a naturalist and love to know more about snakes then you can stay in Kalinga Centre for Rainforest Ecology (KCRE) Places to visit: 1) Sunset point
2) Jogi Gundi Falls
3) Barkana Falls
4) Narasimhaparvata Trek(highest peak in Agumbe)
5) ARRS

Hi Bhavya, I recommend you to stay at Dodda Mane ( Famous Malgudi Days was shot here) , it's. not a lodge, but just like a hostel run by the family. you will have a homely feeling there. book in advance as it will be in high demand. Alternatively if u did not get the stay at Dodda Mane, you can book at Mallya residency. places to visit 1. Agumbe view point
