    Take the old Mumbai - Pune highway, keep driving onwards on the Bangalore highway, upto Bangalore. From Bangalore move on to NICE road which will help you bypass Bangalore city. You can get good joints at Pune, Kolhapur, Belgaum, Hubli, Bangalore, etc. I prefer Bangalore if you wanna halt.
