If Ur going by Ur ownself u can get a taxi from njp or jalpaiguri junction directly to Darjeeling and before hand u can book a hotel. 7000 is the minimum budget of Darjeeling . the place to visit is tigerhill, ghoom

You can book via oyo for family as well. it's pretty cheap if you book now. you can pay later. use the coupon oyograb1

On that same date of 2018 I was there. If you start your journey via Sealdah(Kolkata) then after getting off at NJP take share taxis, don't go for any package travel agencies. Share taxis will take Rs 300-400 per head. and book your hotel via MMT or OYO..
don't go with any package agencies. Plan your trip accordingly. Cost will be 5000/- per head
